Need some “jokes”?

Catch him on July 18, 2008! Before the Joker will catch you ‘till DEATH!

.........

As Batman, Lieutenant James Gordon, and new district attorney Harvey Dent successfully begin to round up the criminals that plague Gotham City, a mysterious criminal mastermind known only as the Joker appears in Gotham, creating a new wave of chaos. Batman's struggle against the Joker becomes deeply personal, forcing him to "confront everything he believes" and improve his technology to stop him.[6] A love triangle develops between Bruce Wayne, Dent and Rachel Dawes

..........

"As we looked through the comics, there was this fascinating idea that Batman's presence in Gotham actually attracts criminals to Gotham, [it] attracts lunacy. When you're dealing with questionable notions like people taking the law into their own hands, you have to really ask, where does that lead? That's what makes the character so dark, because he expresses a vengeful desire."
Nolan on the theme of escalation

what's UP with the GREYS?

“At some point, you have to make a decision. Boundaries don’t keep other people out. They fence you in. Life is messy. That’s how we’re made. So, you can waste your lives drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them. But there are some lines… that are way too dangerous to cross.”

“You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.”

“: At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don’t really expect it. It’s like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And it’s not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you , and once in a while people may even take your breath away. “

“A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don’t know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I’d have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you’re wrong? What if you’re making a mistake you can’t undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can’t pretend we hadn’t been told. We’ve all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today’s possibility under tomorrow’s rug until we can’t anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying. “

“Maybe we like the pain. Maybe we’re wired that way. Because without it, I don’t know; maybe we just wouldn’t feel real. What’s that saying? Why do I keep hitting myself with a hammer? Because it feels so good when I stop. “

“Intimacy is a four syllable word for, “Here’s my heart and soul, please grind them into hamburger, and enjoy.” It’s both desired, and feared. Difficult to live with, and impossible to live without. Intimacy also comes attached to the three R’s… relatives, romance, and roommates. There are some things you can’t escape. And other things you just don’t want to know.

“Pain, you just have to ride it out, hope it goes away on its own, hope the wound that caused it heals. There are no solutions, no easy answers, you just breath deep and wait for it to subside. Most of the time pain can be managed but sometimes the pain gets you where you least expect it. Hits way below the belt and doesn’t let up. Pain, you just have to fight through, because the truth is you can’t outrun it and life always makes more.”

“There’s something to be said about a glass half full. About knowing when to say when. I think it’s a floating line. A barometer of need and desire. It’s entirely up to the individual. And depends on what’s being poured. Sometimes all we want is a taste. Other times there’s no such thing as enough, the glass is bottomless. And all we want, is more. “

“Maybe we’re not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes simply to be human. Maybe we’re thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we’re thankful for the things we’ll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate. “

J---umper!

“…flit through wormholes in the time-space continuum? Dang! The movie was able to satisfy adventure-seekers for their wanderlust and appetite for adventure. Never mind Christensen. So were you at? A jumper or a clandestine? 1 2 3 let the war begin!…”

'Idol' killing music?

Hello bloggers, i just want to share this letter
from Bob Lefsetz, a music blogger, who thinks American Idol is destroying music.

..........

Posted Thu Apr 24 12:32pm PDT

by

Bob Lefsetz in

The Lefsetz Letter

I saw Paul Stanley in the audience of American Idol.

What can I say, Felice is addicted, I heard the rumble from afar and when I went to retrieve her from the bedroom, I got hooked by the show too. I guess it's just instinct, we're all judges, we want to evaluate talent...and just maybe we want to be a member of the club. American Idol has the highest ratings of any weekly series, it's the most talked about show, its stars go on to have hit records...

Well, not so much anymore. Sure, Kelly Clarkson had some hits, but she was the first. And "Since U Been Gone" was a product of the Max Martin machine. Carrie Underwood is a star in the country world, she's the beneficiary of the best material in Nash Vegas...

Wait a minute here... Is this two-dimensional stardom, are these performers no more than cardboard?

The classic rockers were built on their own material. There were no song doctors. It was directly from their heart to yours. And this has delivered audiences in some cases 40 years after their debut. If you're just singing someone else's song, you're driving the BMW. Someone else can get inside and take the wheel instantly. Which is what happens in the evanescent pop world. Everybody today may not be a one hit wonder, but few have more than two or three hit tracks, and almost none of these acts can do respectable live business.

And we learned that TV exposure shortens careers. That was the lesson of MTV. If you're on, you're in everybody's household for a brief window, then you're discarded like a candy wrapper, the chocolate having been savored for an instant and then forgotten.

And what about the runners-up?

Sure, Daughtry has had hits. Interesting that he's a rocker, when so many of the winners are diva-wannabes... But can you name the other contestants who almost won? How about some of those who DID win, like Fantasia and Ruben Studdard?

It's a house of cards. A TV show. And TV is the number one mass medium in the history of the world. It can sell anything. Just ask Procter & Gamble. But even TV is faltering, in this permission marketing, multi-channel, Internet world. In other words, are we just mesmerized that ANYTHING can get this many eyeballs, this much traction in today's diverse cultural landscape?

It's not like these are artists. Hell, Carly Hennessy/Smithson already failed once. These are voices, doing the best karaoke job of all time. And in many cases, not that good.

Carly Smithson murdered "Superstar" on Tuesday night. I remember when I heard the original on the radio in the spring of 1970, before Webber and Rice went all Broadway on us, when they still employed rock singers and had credibility. The track was joyous, infectious. Carly evidenced none of these attractions. There was no CONTEXT!

Simon is a star. You just wait to hear what he says. Paula rivets you because you're waiting to see if she implodes on camera. Randy is sacrificing what credibility he had for a paycheck.

But it's not like Paula and Randy can have any success off this show. No one cares. It's just about the show.

Simon's smart enough to know it's not about his fame, it's about the dough. That TV delivers momentary record sales, that he can profit from.

Is this the game you're in? Earning a golden ticket to instant fame that will be taken away from you on your way to the 7-11, transforming you from a customer to an employee?

If you want to have a long career, write your own material. Be different, not the same. And don't go on television, it will shorten your tenure.

If you can't write, if you've got nothing to say, try out for American Idol. You might get a shot at momentary fame, but that's all it is, momentary.

As for Mr. Stanley... The people watching are not KISS fans, this is not bringing in dollars to your enterprise. People lose sight of the truth. The truth is that American Idol has got nothing to do with rock and roll, nothing to do with careers. Anybody can get on television, haven't you watched Survivor, or MTV or VH1? The PROGRAM is the star, not the talent. Never forget this.

..........

*** quotable quotes from maging sino ka man ***

"I love you not because of what you can give me, but because of what you can take,
I am so willing to give, I love you because... I love the me when I'm with you, sometimes you have to fight hard just to make love survive, get hurt, always badly but what's important is that you gave it a shot, real love is never regretful and even if it fails to last, real love should only make you a better person, a stronger person, and in love real strength is knowing when to give up the fight and finally let go!"

One day I will disappear completely. The letters will mean nothing. The world will get tired of me. You will get tired of me. I will get tired of myself, and die. But I will never get tired of you. For you, there will be no endings. I will say your name over and over, like a refrain. My prayer to no one. Then i'll be a flower, the one you'll never pick. And will endure the breathless waiting till boundaries disappear. With nothing to do, I make new constellations. Images of you as I remember - Dancing. Sitting. Walking... There are stars from a different view. But still, i see nothing but you. Unfurling like a flower. Swiveling like a leaf... I once watched you sleep beside me. It was dark then, but the darkness is deeper now. Tonight in my dreams I will see you, my lady, clothed only in light... Like a kite, I've given my self up to the wind. I made friends with the sun. Confused the birds with strange and distant voyages. But it is you that ties the thread and hauls me down. Like a kite, I will forever hold your hand. And with a burning human longing, in your hands, I surrender. I will never get tired of you. For you there will be no endings. I will say your name over and over... Celine... Celine... like a refrain. My prayer to no one. You know I will never get far. And there is no need for my return. I've never been a traveler. For I have never left. I am lost, simply. Wanting to be in a place I've never been, and will never be. Of all destinations, I long to be lost in the fields of your hair, lost among your thoughts as you are already in mine. You are my imperative to live. My life started when I loved you. And that's how I want it to end.

"Our search for love is our search for meaning in our lives, we could go on searching for it all of us trying forever, we may either succeed or we may fail, should we choose to look for love? there really is no more important person that should show us love but ourselves".

"Things can't be perfect all the time, in reality life
comes with so many imperfections and these imperfections make life more interesting, more exciting, hindi dapat tayo mabuhay na laging takot humakbang na baka hindi i
to ang tamang daan you have to take risk, at kung di sigurado ang steps natin we discover new things, we meet new people and soon you'll realize na mas kaya mo pala higitan yung mga bagay na akala mo dati yun lang ang kaya mo, sa pagmamahal ganun din, di dapat tayo pangunahan ng takot na magkamali, na masaktan, even if we have notions kung sino ang dapat mahalin, kung pano sila dapat mahalin at kung bakit sila ang dapat nating mahalin, dahil malalaman natin sa bandang huli na kapag nagmamahal tayo, hindi naman talaga nai-kakahon ang puso at makakaya mo nang sabihin na.. mahal kita maging sino ka man."

can a BOY and a GIRL "just be friends"?

The Bible urges young men to treat "younger women as sisters with all the chasteness."
- (1 Timothy 5:2)

By applying this principle, it is indeed possible to enjoy clean, wholesome friendships with members of opposite sex. The apostle Paul, for example, was a single man who enjoyed a number of friendships with Christian women. (See Romans 16:1, 3, 6, 12). He wrote of two "women who have striven side by side with me in the good news." (Philippians 4:3) Jesus Christ also enjoyed balanced, wholesome association with women. On numerous occasions, he enjoyed the hospitality and conversation of Martha and Mary - Luke 10:38, 39; John 11:5.

Nevertheless, a teenager should not begin dating simply because he or she feels pressured to do so! For one thing, dating is a serious business - a part of the process of the selecting a marriage mate. Marriage? Admittedly, this may be the last thing on the minds of most youths who date. But really, what justification could there be for two people of the opposite sex to begin spending a lot of time together other than to investigate the possibility of marrying each other? In the long run, dating for any other reason is likely to result in anything but "fun". Why so?

step up 2: THE STREETS

"...this is a great movie if you are in the dance scene, love to dance or can't dance but disappointingly, Channing Tatum had just appeared in a cameo role which made me felt bad. He deserves better than Robert Hoffman, I must say. Otherwise, there isn't much of a story line and the synopsis is actually very similar to the first.
Great dancing, not much else...."

supernatural season 1

Season 1 Trivia
  • The Pilot was filmed in California.
  • The show is filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, with post production done in California.
  • Unlike many series, Supernatural does show the name of the episode, just before the cast credits appear.
  • Like fellow sci-fi show Lost, the show does not have an opening credit sequence or theme music, only a title card. Most episodes have a brief recap of the show's back story and important events. Two episodes featured extended, music-video-style recaps: the recap in "Salvation" is set to "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas, and the recap in "The Devil's Trap" is set to "Fight the Good Fight" by Triumph. The show features many classic rock songs, differing from other shows broadcast on The WB which typically tend to feature music by newer, contemporary artists.
  • The car Sam and Dean drive is a 1967 Chevrolet Impala, which has been nicknamed the Metallicar by fans of the show. The show uses five black Impalas.
  • In "Dead in the Water," Sam and Dean introduce themselves as Agents Ford and Hamill, the surnames of Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, both main actors in the Star Wars series of films. Also in that episode, there is a young boy named Lucas, the surname of Star Wars creator George Lucas.
  • In "Hell House", the two "paranormal investigators" that Sam and Dean meet are Zeddemore and Spengler, which are the names of two characters from Ghostbusters. In the episode, Zeddemore and Spengler wear goggles made to look like the pair worn by Dan Aykroyd's character in Ghostbusters II.
  • In "Phantom Traveler", Dean hums "Some Kind of Monster" by Metallica on the plane. He also introduces himself as Dr. James Hetfield (the lead singer of Metallica) in the same episode.
  • The website that Sam discovers in "Hell House" is www.hellhoundslair.com, a website created by the show's producers.
  • In the opening of "Hell House," Dean sings the refrain to the Blue Oyster Cult song "Fire of Unknown Origin." This is ironic, considering that this would be the official reason given to explain the death of his own mother as well as Sam's girlfriend Jessica.
  • In "Something Wicked," Sam researches the Shtriga at the local library, finding newspaper reports of similar deaths in Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook: the same three cities monorails were sold to in The Simpsons episode "Marge vs. the Monorail."
  • In "Faith," the reverend Roy Le Grange's name could be a reference to the famous ZZ Top song "La Grange"; in the episode, the reverend's meeting tent is on the edge of town, and in the song a brothel is on the outskirts of town
  • In "Provenance," the camera pans past a car bearing the vanity licence plate "THE KRIP," in a shout-out to writer/executive producer/creator Eric Kripke.
  • In "Nightmare," Sam and Dean introduce themselves as Father Simmons and Father Frehley, the bassist and lead guitarist of the rock band KISS.
  • Early on in the series, Dean's cell number is given, and for a while the studio had it set up so that anyone dialing the number would hear Jensen Ackles reading the message: "This is Dean Winchester. If this is an emergency, leave a message. If you are calling about 11-2-83, page me with your coordinates."
  • On the Supernatural interactive website, the code to unlock the Winchesters' weapons trunk is 11-02-83 (the day their mother died).
  • The building in which the episode "Asylum" was filmed is a real closed-down asylum that is rumored to be actually haunted. Some observers have noted that certain story and stylistic elements of this episode are highly reminiscent of the Silent Hill videogames, several of which have long sequences set in sinister hospitals, with eerie, empty wheelchairs and monstrous creatures whose heads "flutter" as if in fast motion.
  • In the episode "Salvation," a meeting location is given as being at the corner of Wabash and Lake, an address used several times in the movie The Matrix.
  • The show has made several references to The X-Files. For instance, in the pilot episode, Dean jokingly addresses two FBI agents as Mulder and Scully.
  • The season finale, "Devil's Trap," features a visual reference to the movie The Shining; an axe splinters a white door in the same fashion as in the Jack Nicholson movie. In the episode "Asylum," Dean repeatedly referred to Nicholson and the movie: 'Just like my man Jack in The Shining."
  • "Bobby Singer," a friend of the family who Dean seeks out for help in the season finale, is a shout-out to executive producer Robert Singer.
  • "Hell House" is supposed to take place in Jensen Ackles' hometown of Richardson, Texas.
  • In "Faith," a minor character is named Layla, in a reference to the Derek & the Dominoes rock song.
  • November 2, the date of their mother's death, is the Day of the Dead, a Catholic celebration.
  • In "Route 666," the truck is a raised 1964 Dodge Stepside pickup truck.
  • In "Scarecrow," Dean introduces himself as John Bonham, the drummer from Led Zeppelin.
  • Jessica Lee Moore's birthday is January 24th, 1984 ("Wendigo").
  • Jessica Moore is exactly five years younger than Dean.
  • Sam Winchester's birthday is May 2nd, 1983 ("The Benders")
  • Dean Winchester's birthday is January 24th, 1979. ("The Benders")
  • In "Shadows" Meg says "I met what's-his-name, something Michael Murray at a bar." Chad Michael Murray is friends with Jared Padalecki, and they have worked together on Gilmore Girls and House of Wax.

Body Talk with GRANDMASTERSON

Questions by Ricardo F. Lo, Pilipino Star Ngayon.

Photo: Heath Ledger

With your tight schedule, do you get enough sleep?

"Yes, I try to get as much sleep as I can during my free time. Those free time? Hmmm, starting from 2 am till 6am. Then a nap of 2 hours in the afternoon. Since its my vacation, foruming ate a lot of my time. I usually get five to six hours of sleep a day. That's how I energized myself"

What’s your favorite sleepwear?

"Just shorts, in short.."

Never in the nude?

"Never. Whenever I sleep, I want to be as comfortable as possible. But I’m not comfortable sleeping in the nude."

What’s the last thing that you do before you go to sleep?

"Pray. Then turn on my MP4 till it drops."

"Empty and Say Goodnight by The Click Five", "No Air" by Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks. Too many to mention.

What’s the first thing that you do when you wake up?

"I usually check my phone first, then have a cup of coffee and wash my face."

A Look at How You Look

Photo: Jared Padalecki

"They say that beauty is only skin deep.

Why is it, though, that the good looking youths seem to get all the advantages?

And how is a youth to cope with all the pressure to dress and look like his or her peers?"

- Young People Ask

'I've got this dislike about my body...I think I don't look so good"

"What you dislike about yourself may be envied by others"

"Youths often fail to appreciate that magazine models have the services of a beauty-support team"

"You have assets that far outweigh any physical deficiencies"

"Parents often clash with their children over what they wear. Are the parents simply being old-fashioned?"

"Many youths try to assert their individuality through outlandish attire"

"Dress in a manner appropriate to the circumstances. Clothing sends out a message about you!"

"What you wear is really who you are and how you feel about yourself"

Am I A loner?

It is Saturday night.

The boy sits alone in his room.

"I hate weekends!" he shouts.

But there is no one in the room to answer.

He picks up a magazine and sees a picture of a group of young people at the beach.

He hurls the magazine against the wall.

Tears well up.

He clamps his teeth on his underlip, but the tears keep pushing.

Unable to fight it any longer, he falls on his bed, sobbing,

"Why am I always left out?"
